The Directors Guild of America shuns the Coens & nominates:
David Fincher for The Social Network

Tom Hooper for The King’s Speech
Darren Aronofsky for Black Swan

David O. Russell for The Fighter

Christopher Nolan for Inception

And, with that, these are your 5 front-runner Best Picture nominees. Making me eat my words about Black Swan (too weird for Oscar) & The Fighter (too generic).
It also puts a bit of a damper on those buzzes that True Grit was coming up to steal the Best Picture Oscar from The Social Network and The King's Speech. We'll see.
